Don't Mind Me

Remember that in storyline time, it’s probably been weeks, at the most a few months since Alisha was murdered in front of all of her friends and Simon jumped back in time to go to his own pre-established death. Shortly after, ~~Lauren Socha got arrested for racially aggravated assault~~ Kelly left the country and took Seth with her.

Curtis is the last friend Rudy had besides his double. The new kids are good, but they’re new. They didn’t see Alisha’s throat slashed. They didn’t have to say goodbye to Simon. They didn’t find out that their favorite fookin’ rocket scientist went on vacation and then decided to stay in Uganda permanently to disarm landmines. When Rudy asks Curtis for one last drink just the two of them and then cries after hanging up, my emotions went off the grid.

Oh, and did I mention? Characters who resolutely do the right and selfless thing at the time when it’s hardest and it counts for the most always punch me in the feels gut with their damn altruism. Curtis was that guy in this episode. He wasn’t dramatic about it, but he took steps to not hurt anyone and he was determined to bring Lola out of her cycle before he did what he knew he had to do. Fuckin’ CURTIS.

I’d like to throw in here that Jess and Finn are in fact, good characters. The writers and actors on this show are really stepping up to maintain the story’s integrity and the show’s universe while keeping everything interesting.

Don’t let anyone tell you series four is bad or boring or horrible just because their favorite character isn’t in it anymore.

[P.S. Because it’s obligatory, imagine me standing in front of the TV screaming “NOOOOOOOOOO” to the heavens like Darth Vader in Episode 3]
